Yamaha Motor Racing - Brief
Yamaha Motor Racing or Yamaha Factory Racing is the official factory team of Yamaha in MotoGP. It founded in 1999 following the retirement of Wayne Rainey, who had run a factory-supported team in the 500 cc class for the previous two years. The team was originally based in the Netherlands but was relocated in Italy in 2002.Max Biaggi and Carlos Checa raced for the team from 1999 to 2002. Max Biaggi achieved a total of 9 race wins in that period, first riding the Yamaha YZR500 and later the Yamaha YZR-M1 in 2002.In 2003, Checa was joined by Marco Melandri. The team had an average season with no wins or podiums. For 2004 Valentino Rossi joined Carlos Checa at the team. Rossi got 9 wins and won the championship.Colin Edwards joined the team for 2005. Rossi once again won the championship, collecting 11 wins. Both riders stayed with the team for 2006. Rossi earned 5 wins and finished 2nd in the championship. For the 2007 season, both riders remained with the team riding the new 800cc Yamaha YZR-M1. Rossi had 4 wins and finished the season 3rd overall. For 2008, Yamaha had a unique line-up with Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo. Although the pair were fighting for the title from different pit boxes (as Valentino Rossi chose to use Bridgestone tyres and as Jorge Lorenzo continued with Michelin), Yamaha operated as one brand and not two separate manufacturers. The title was won dominantly by the returning hero Rossi who won 9 of the 18 races and finished on the podium in every race except for two. Even though this was the learning year for Jorge Lorenzo, the Spanish star was able to cruise to victory at Estoril and finished 4th in the championship. In 2009, Yamaha dominated MotoGP with Rossi winning the title and Lorenzo finishing second. The pair won 10 out of the 17 races, and Yamaha won the Constructors' Championship.

Ducati's MotoGP Reshuffle: Gobmeier, Ciabatti To Lead MotoGP Program, Preziosi Moved Sideways

The reports of a major reshuffle at Ducati which emerged at Valencia turned out to be accurate. Today, Ducati Motor Holding announced a complete reshuffle within its racing department, which sees the current leaders of Ducati's racing projects moved aside to make way for new blood.

The biggest change is at the top of Ducati's racing department, Ducati Corse. Current general manager and technical lead Filippo Preziosi is being moved out of the racing department and reassigned as head of R&D for all of Ducati, though his focus will shift to production machines. In his place, former BMW World Superbike team manager Bernhard Gobmeier has been appointed as General Manager of Ducati Corse. MotoGP project director Alessandro Cicognani has also been replaced, by Paolo Ciabatti, who was director of the World Superbike Championship for Infront Motor Sports until it was taken over by Dorna. The only person staying in place is Ernesto Marinelli, who will remain Ducati's WSBK project director.

Andy neate leaves triple 8

Seen this on Facebook.

andy neate has left mg. leaving a place open for a new driver at mg, or possibily 2 new drivers. It has been said that mg might run 3 cars next year.

it will be sad to see him go, but i think mg will be glad they don't have to take a spare truck to each race meet just to repair his car.

I would like to see Paul o'neil or another proven race driver help MG compete with Honda.

Dream comes true for Ostberg

Story from www.wrc.com

The Norwegian, who placed fourth in this year’s FIA World Rally Championship standings on the back of landing his maiden victory in Portugal earlier in the season, will pilot a Ford Fiesta RS WRC alongside existing co-driver Jonas Andersson from Sweden. It’s 25-year-old Ostberg’s first full campaign since he emerged in the global arena as a teenager in 2006.
He said: “This is a great opportunity for me. I have had many dreams in my career, but achieving this drive is definitely one of the biggest and I am certainly going to try and make the most of it.”
Ostberg is no stranger to the M-Sport fold having first sampled the company’s Ford Fiesta S2000 in 2010 before stepping up to the World Rally Car version the following season when he finished second on his debut in the machine on Rally Sweden.
“I am really happy to have been chosen to join the team and continue working closely with M-Sport next season,” said Ostberg, who has 15 WRC stage wins to his name. “We’ve been working with the [Ford Fiesta RS WRC] for two years now - we know the car and we know the team so from the technical side of things, I think we will be in a really good position as there won’t be too much of a change to get used to.
“But from the other side of things, it will still be a big challenge - albeit a big step in the right direction. This season has been really good for us, and I hope we can continue that into 2013. I can’t wait to get back behind the wheel and start testing with the team in the next couple of weeks.”
M-Sport boss Malcolm Wilson said: “Mads’ performance this year has been very impressive. He has always had the speed, but his progression on Tarmac and the maturity he has demonstrated this season proves that he is ready to make the next step in his career and made him the ideal candidate to join the team in 2013. He has an old head on young shoulders and I am confident that we will see some strong performances from him as he rises to the challenge next year.”

Trackside Tuesday: Casinos, Armco, and Road Racing

Take the Monaco F1 without the glitz and glamor, throw in a Vegas casino or two, add some Chinese culture, with a nod to Portugal, and you have got a rough picture of Macau and the Macau Grand Prix. A former Portuguese colony with gambling revenue that surpasses Las Vegas, Macau remains an anomaly in this area of the world, where conformity to the Chinese central Government is more the norm. The racing takes place ...

Michael Laverty Maybe on PBM CRT 2013

Michael Laverty for PBM CRT 2013
After Shane 'Shakey' Byrne decided not to accept the PBM's offer to race at MotoGP next session, Paul Bird now looking for a new rider. Michael Laverty told to belfasttelegraph that he got an offer to ride ART on the 2013 season with PBM. The British Superbike rider also got offers from Honda and Yamaha on the BSB 2013 season.

Paul Bird also propose for two rider for next session. Yonny Hernandez is the other candidate to fill the bike for the 2013 season.

Michael Lavery:
“I’ve got on really well with both Honda and Yamaha teams these past two season, but the lure of World championship and racing against Edwards and De Puniet in CRT is appealing. I know it’s the second tier championship in MotoGP, and it’s even harder to know what is the best decision to make, as the Yamaha deal with Shaun is right on the wire and he can’t hold on much longer.”

Alonso and Ferrari - What's in going to take?

Fernando Alonso has lost championships by 1-point in 2007 (still with McLaren), 4-points in 2010, and 3-points in 2012. I'm not a fan of Ferrari in the least, but I'd love to see Fernando be more competitive throughout the season and have more wins. I wonder what Ferrari are going to do in order to make that a reality for Fernando in 2013.

I didn't know Formula 1 drivers could have a thousand yard stare. :D
