Dani Pedrosa was the fastest man in a wet FP2 session at the Sachsenring, but the Repsol Honda man nearly had Stefan Bradl steal his thunder under the darkened skies. The LCR Honda rider set a blistering pace on his final lap in the wet, beating Pedrosa's time through the first three sectors only to come up just short in the final sector, ending under a tenth behind Pedrosa. Jorge Lorenzo took 3rd spot, 0.099 behind Pedrosa, and nearly a tenth ahead of the second Repsol Honda of Casey Stoner.
The Ducatis were once again strong in the rain, Valentino Rossi taking 5th ahead of factory teammate Nicky Hayden, Rossi just three tenths off of Pedrosa's time. The Monster Tech 3 Yamahas followed, Cal Crutchlow ahead of Andrea Dovizioso, while Ben Spies ended the session in 9th, ahead of Hector Barbera and Alvaro Bautista. James Ellison was the best of the CRT machines, beating Aleix Espargaro and Mattia Pasini - the Italian having returned to ride after his horror crash in pit lane this morning. Despite the rain, the CRTs are still 2.6 seconds off Pedrosa, and 1.6 slower than the slowest MotoGP prototype, with the exception of Ducati test rider Franco Battaini.
