With temperatures hitting record highs all over the US during the past month, many riders are looking for ways to stay cool. Riders Discount doesnt want comfort to come at the sake of protection, which is why todays spotlight is on the Alpinestars T-GP-R Air jacket. Built on the same pattern as the extremely popular GP-R perforated leather jacket, the T-GP-R Air uses a combination of durable textile and mesh to provide tons of air-flow without giving up too much in the way of safety.
The shell of the T-GP-R Air is constructed using 600D polyester so that it remains very lightweight, while still providing a high level of abrasion resistance. This textile is complemented by large mesh panels that have been strategically positioned to allow a great deal of ventilation through both the front and back. Most mesh jackets are for hot weather only since the same areas that let air in can also let water through, but that is not the case with this one. Alpinestars made the T-GP-R Air very versatile by including a removable, long-sleeved water/wind resistant liner for less than favorable weather conditions.
Inside the jacket you will find CE certified Bio Armor in the elbows and shoulders, as well as foam padding in the back and chest. Both the back and chest can be easily upgraded to CE certified Bionic inserts from Alpinestars. If an upgraded back protector is something you are looking to add, we recommend going with the Bionic Air insert. Its honeycomb shaped pockets allow warm air to escape from your back and out the mesh panel on the rear of the jacket.
The Alpinestars T-GP-R Air is a high quality, versatile jacket that will help you beat the heat and stay safe at the same time.
