The grid for the Spanish Grand Prix was decided today at Jerez, in preparation for the Sunday 2pm race. Dani Pedrosa and Marc Marquez will start from second and third, respectively, behind poleman Jorge Lorenzo. The two Repsol riders both had small crashes today: Marquez fell in the fourth Free Practice session and Pedrosa went down in Qualifying. Pedrosa was second, behind Lorenzo, in the day's two free practice sessions, setting a consistent pace with a focus on tomorrow's race. Marquez moved up from sixth in FP3 to fourth in FP4, although his light crash at Turn 6 provided a brief break in his track time. In the 15-minute qualifying run, Pedrosa stopped the clock in 1'38.920 on his first attempt at a hot lap. However, a crash on the fast Turn 8 limited him to just the one attempt at pole. He was 0.247 down on Lorenzo at the end of the session, and 0.051 faster than teammate Marquez. The two will share the front row for the second consecutive race. Dani Pedrosa "The session went well, but at the end I had a crash in turn eight, as I maybe pushed a little too hard and lost the front. We've ridden well all weekend and the bike is working great, so we are hoping that tomorrow we can continue in the same way. Pace is the most important thing and I hope to get a good start and have a strong race." Marc Marquez "I'm pretty happy, because the session went better than I expected. We knew it would be a tough and difficult weekend, but I think we had a very good qualifying session and starting from the front row is very important. I know that Dani and Lorenzo are one step ahead at the moment, but I will still try to give one-hundred percent and ride my own race. It will be hard, hot, and very demanding on the tyres, but we will try to get a good result in front of the home fans."
