Hot on the heels of round three of the Enduro World Championship in Spain, the Husqvarna Monster Energy CH Racing Team head to the GP of Portugal this weekend eager to secure further success. Claiming a total of three race wins and a runner-up result at the GP of Spain, the dry and dusty course in Puerto Lumbreras marked the most successful race of the season to date for the Husqvarna powered squad. And with conditions in Torres Vedras, Portugal expected to mirror those of round three, the team are hopeful of more victories. Collecting a fantastic double race win in the Enduro Junior class, Australian EWC rookie Matt Phillips (TE310R) was one of the standout performers at the GP of Spain. Unsure how he would fair in the extremely dry and deep, powder filled, ruts, the 19-year-old powered his way to two very convincing wins. Adding his victories in Spain to his results from the opening rounds of the series in South America, Phillips heads to Portugal as the new points leader of the Enduro Junior class. In the Enduro 1 category, the Finnish pairing of Juha Salminen and Matti Seistola (both TE250R) continue to hold second and third respectively in the championship standings. In Spain Seistola delivered a stunning performance on day one to record his first race win of the season. Capitalising on a mistake by Antoine Meo, Seistola remained calm, cool and collected throughout the day to secure the top step of the podium. With his confidence now at an all time high, the Husqvarna rider knows he has the speed to mix it with the world's best quarter litre capacity riders and will be hunting down another victory in Torres Vedras. For Salminen, the GP of Spain was one of mixed emotions. Struggling to find his form early on day one, the Finn fought his way back into contention to place fourth. Fairing better on day two, Salminen ended his day in third overall. In Portugal he'll have his sights set on placing at the very top of the E1 class. Husqvarna's Enduro 2 class rider Lorenzo Santolino (TE310R) delivered his best performance of the series in Spain. Adapting well to the extremely difficult conditions, Santolino placed a solid eighth on day one. Improving to seventh overall on day two, the Spaniard finished just 29 seconds short of fifth position. In Portugal Santolino is aiming to edge ever closer to that elusive top five result. The Enduro World Championship continues this weekend with round four in Torres Vedras, Portugal, May 18/19. Championship Standings (after round 3) Enduro 11. Antoine Meo (KTM) 111pts2.
