Hermunen a class apart

The sun and a huge crowd welcomed the riders today in Kuressaare track, where the Finnish SHR riders won in both classes. One of the best Supermoto Grand Prix - as everybody said - where Mauno Hermunen obtained the overall victory and his teammate Sami Salstola got his first podium in the European Supermoto Championship. A special week-end for TM Shr Mauno Hermunen not only because he won another time two heats out of two and the Estonia SM Grand Prix, but also for the support of his public that has stood for him and has followed him since yesterday qualifying until his last lap of today. This season, the Finnish rider has always won all races and, with today, he got his fourth victory in a row. Today, Mauno took the holeshot in both heats and dominated both races with a great authority until the end. A very good performance for APRILIA Fast Wheels Adrien Chareyre, who obtained the second step of the podium after having finished second in both heats. In race one, the former Supermoto Champion overtook Mauno Hermunen in the first lap but the Finnish came from behind stronger and catched him easily. The French admitted that this type of circuit does not fit him particularly; however he thinks that it was a very good Grand Prix and he hopes to come back here in the future. Today the podium was closed by TM Racing Factory Team Thomas Chareyre, after having finished third in both heats. The defending Champion was satisfied about his result, considering his broken hand but he is afraid of losing some important points, also because he will be able to have surgery only after next Latina Grand Prix. TM Racing Factory Team Thierry Van Den Bosch improved his position from last Czech week-end, finishing fourth in the overall standings. The fourth times Supermoto World Champion had a problem with his bike in race one and did not have a good start but he made a fantastic recovery overtaking Andrea Occhini first and - after having battled with him - also Christian Ravaglia finishing sixth; in race two he was very close to his teammate Thomas and finished fourth. HM L30 Racing Ivan Lazzarini closed the top five; in the first race the Italian Supermoto Champion was consistent, finishing fourth; in race two he had a crash with his countryman Christian Ravaglia, losing some positions but managing to have a recovery, finally finishing sixth. Sixth overall position for the young French rider YAMAHA Team Blot Grelier Aurelien who – after having finished fifth-fifth - improved his position race by race, and he feels confident to battle for the top five this season. Seventh position for the Italian cop HONDA HM Racing Christian Ravaglia who was consistent in race one finishing sixth, after the overtaking of Van Den Bosch, and finishing eighth in the second race due to the contact with his countryman Lazzarini. HONDA Tds Uros Nastran was eighth with an painful leg after having fallen down in the warm up. Ninth place for HONDA Luc1 Owatrol Sylvan Bydart who did not have a good start in race one , making it difficult for him to improve his position; then in race two, during the first lap, he was involved in a crash in the first corner after the Dunlop's bridge with TM Sbd Unionbike Giovanni Bussei, TM Harbike Racing Thomas Travnicek and SUZUKI Brt Andrea Occhini.
